This release of the Territory Population Update provides a summary of population estimates for the March quarter of 2017 (covering January-March inclusive) including new estimates for Indigenous people for June 2016. These estimates are based on 2016 Census data, and are therefore the most up to date data for the Territory on population size, births, deaths and migration. The recently released 2016 Census data is suitable for detailed analysis on population compositions and change for the Territory and at lower levels of geography (for example, towns and communities).
